A portrait that extends over 400m of rice fields

A private seed company spent two months designing and planting purple and green rice on the 13 hectares of land to create a portrait of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

It joins hundreds of sculptures and murals across the country created to honor the slain president. The 400-meter-long work attracts hundreds of visitors to the rural town of Bhabanipur every day. It is so imposing that it can only be seen properly from the air.
